I ripped back and reknit the top of Manon.

I think it is much improved. I am so pleased that I've actually cut yarn and woven in ends. The back of the neck seam is also sewn. I've knit one sleeve but my gauge is totally off. I knit the stockinette portion of the body combination style which is different than my circular gauge, apparently. It appears to be looser because I have 4.5 st to the inch on the body but 5.5 on the sleeve. I'm reknitting the sleeve on larger needles, or rather on even larger needles. I had already gone up one needle size.

On the stash front, I finally fell down on my deal with Kristi and now owe her $5. I went into Purlescence on Thursday for a bit of knit night and Sandi and Nathania presented me with bags and bags of Panda Soy to go through. It's Crystal Palace's new sock yarn, 49% bamboo, 33% soy and 18% elastic nylon. Gorgeous colors and so incredibly soft. I thought I had a bit more leeway than I do, apparently because these three tiny balls put me over the edge. Oops.

THe color is even more gorgeous in person and I don't regret it one bit.

another rabbit?? and planning ahead

I knit another one of those adorable bunnies. This one is going off to my cousin's wife (along with the gift I knit for their baby that I have been meaning to send for months! shame on me) for her niece who was in an accident. I wanted to knit her something soft and cuddly for her recuperation. I read on my cousin's wife blog today, though, that she's diving off the couch to scare her parents already, so maybe she's done needing cuddly things. Hopefully she'll enjoy it anyway. The yarn I made it out of is Puffin by Crystal Palace which is like strips of microfleece. It's very soft. (Ravelry project details)

I've also been working on my Tomato again. I don't have another picture because it is not that attractive on at the moment. Since I'm knitting it out of Pakucho I have to account for a 10% shrinkage in length the first time I wash it. So for now the sweater is very droopy on me. I have faith that eventually it will look good.

The only other thing I've been doing is planning for future projects. I slipped at Purlescence today and bought 13 more balls of Rowan Purelife to make the No Gap Wrap sweater form More Big GIrl Knits. That wasn't why I went there. Darn those yarn fumes.

I also picked up some Rowan Damask to use as the accent yarn in the Slipstream Pullover, also from More Big Girl Knits. I knit it up in the garter stitch slip pattern with the hempathy I had to see how it looks. I like it. I just need to knit another swatch of the Damask to wash a few times to see how it holds up. The yarn label says it's very delicate, but I want to see what it really can stand.

If I've learned anything from listening to Stash and Burn it's that sometimes fantasizing about knitting is as much fun as actually doing it.

New Pathways for Sock Knitters: Book One

I dropped by Purlescence today and picked up a copy of Cat Bordhi's new book. The only reason I am not knitting one of the tiny test socks right now is that the needles I need all seem to be in other projects. I really like the way this book is laid out, with notes in yellow boxes so they are easy to find. I also like that she gives you a couple of patterns following the same "sockitecture," as she calls it, but then gives you the master pattern as well so you can easily modify them to your liking. I am looking forward to the other books in this series (I believe there will be three) and I haven't even knit anything from this one yet! I may be displacing my desire to buy yarn into a desire to buy knitting books.

Anyway, I have at least three socks picked out that I want to make once the needles are available, as well as a jar full of sock yarn that needs some attention.
