Facebook

I am thinking about leaving Facebook because of recent revelations about their cavalier attitude towards user data and privacy. I am hoping to use my blog more regularly instead of posting everything there.

I have also rejoined Ello and Mastadon. I am abigailvr everywhere if you would like to connect with me.

In the mean time, here are some cookies I baked today.

See you here soon!

I, too, have been thinking about leaving Facebook for a long time (and have actually left twice, as much as one can actually “leave” Facebook). The privacy issues and the fact that they essentially own my content leave me perpetually conflicted. So many of the interactions I have, especially within the homeschool community and with family and friends from whom I am geographically separated, happen on Facebook. I’ve been using Instagram more and thought for a while that I was circumventing Facebook by doing so, but then—doh!—I found out that Facebook owns Instagram, too.

I look forward to hearing how stepping back from Facebook works for you, particularly how you use your blog and other social networks to connect with those with whom you would otherwise connect on Facebook.
