NaBloPoMo Day 9: a finished scarf

My dear friend Sandy is a San Francisco Giants superfan. Actually, from my perspective she simply loves baseball in general and the Giants in particular because they are our home team. Her younger son is one of my older son’s closest friends so we spend a lot of time together. It helps that we also like each other, of course. So, when she asked me if I would knit her a scarf “Zito socks style” I immediately agreed. Of course, I had to look up who Zito was and what his socked looked like. (If you’re as clueless as I was: they look like this.)

I got myself three balls of black and one of orange Berroco Comfort, a very soft, totally non-animal fiber yarn and started knitting around. I put three stripes of orange at either end of a tube of black stockinette. I bound off once but had too much black yarn left so I went back to try to maximize yarn usage. And today, almost two months after I started it, I finished the scarf! Of course, I immediately gave it to Sandy without taking a photo so that will have to wait for another post. She promised to model it with all of her Giants gear on.

Maybe now I can wind up this orange and brown and figure out what to do with them. Oh, the possibilities!
