Yesterday i discovered a couple of ants in the living room. I know very well that there are never just a couple of ants but I wasn’t prepared for the army of ants marching behind the couch, to a sticky spot under a side table and then up the edge of the rug towards the trash can. Because of that line of ants my living room now looks like this.
I keep spraying them with a mixture of vinegar, water and dish soap or with Orange Guard but they keep coming back. I also sprayed Orange Guard on the outside of the house, along the edge of the glass door with little success. I am bigger and smarter but I can’t keep them from getting in! Very frustrating.
Speaking of little success, I unmolded my bathbombs today. They are cute but crumbly. I think I should have waited a bit longer.
S used some in his bath tonight. I think I see the advantage of one big chunk instead of small pieces: the big chunk fizzes longer. Stefan definitely found them entertaining and asked if he could use more tomorrow. I ended up with some of the “mystery balls” from the previous fizz fest which I was unable to attend. I might try one of those in my own bath. I normally shower but these things are tempting! I definitely want to make some more.
I’ve got some of those egg molds. I never thought to use them that way but I have been wanting to make bath bombs
Have you had luck with them as egg molds? I didn’t really, which is why I was hoping to find another use for them! Maybe I should give the egg molding another try though.
For your ants, try a liquid ant trap. They really work. Like you, we tried all sorts of natural remedies to no effect. The ants were in our pantry and getting in our food, so we had to get serious. I had toddlers at the time so I only put the traps out at night. 2 nights and 3 days later, no more ants !!
They seem to be gone this morning (knocking on wood!) otherwise I will go get some the ant traps.
Oh those turned out cute! And I am jealous of your getting the mystery balls, I made them nice and orangey. Along with all the other scents they had. 🙂
Do you want them, Teenuh? I took them out of curiosity and because it didn’t seem like mine were working out. There are two and a half.
only natural stuff we had any luck with was for deterrant, not killing the infestations (they seemed avoid the opening they had previously tried if we put eucalyptus there.)
The Orange Guard spray seems to keep them away and kill the ones who are here. They found a new way in and I sprayed last night a few times and today there aren’t any.
