ideas for teacher gifts

I want to knit some small teacher gifts for Niels' teachers at the end of the school year. I would really like to use some stash for this. I have many colors of sugar and creme, so I could do wash cloths, but I'm wondering if that is cheesy. I was considering doing the star shaped cloth from Mason-Dixon Knitting and then tucking a pretty soap in there and tying it up like they show you in the book.

Any other suggestions? Other stash yarns I have are some Euroflax Linen and Cascade Fixation.

That sounds like an awesome idea. You could knit a matching soap sack as well. I know the people I have done this for absolutely loved it. I have a pretty lacy dishcloth and soap sack pattern I can send to you if you're interested!

What about shopping bags? I've seen some patterns of bags that can be squished really small, to fit in your pocket, and then expand for carrying fruits and veggies or other smallish things. Unfortunately the patterns I've seen are in print, and not on-line, but you might find something. And I'm sure the were in cotton 😉

The wash cloth, soap sack idea is a nice one. Please do send me the pattern you have! Thanks, Teenuh. 🙂

I think those star shaped washclothes in M-D knitting are very pretty, I think that with some soap would make a really nice thoughtful gift 🙂

Thanks for the idea! I was also wondering what to make my son's teacher as a gift at the end of the school year. I have the MDK book, so I'll use the star-shaped one.
